Uber Eats now offering weed delivery in Toronto, as of 16th of October 2022, Uber Eats Canada announced that they partnered with Leafly, a leading online cannabis marketplace, and information resource. Uber Eat has partnered with Leafly to bring cannabis delivery to Torontonians. Torontonians can now order safe, legal cannabis and deliver it straight to their homes due to a partnership between Uber Eats and Leafly.
According to the statement released by Uber Canada, people above the age of 19 can place orders from local licensed cannabis stores in the Uber Eats app and have them delivered to their door by the retailer’s CannSell-certified staff. This would be the first time in the world that cannabis delivery will be available on a major third-party delivery platform.

General Manager of Uber Eats Canada, Lola Kassim, said that they are partnering with industry leaders like Leafly to help retailers offer safe, convenient options for people in Toronto to purchase legal cannabis for delivery to their homes, which will help to fight the illegal market and help reduce impaired driving. Meanwhile, commenting on the partnership with Uber Eats, Yoko Miyashita, CEO of Leafly, said that they have been empowering the cannabis marketplace in Canada for more than four years and supporting more than 200 cannabis retailers in the Greater Toronto Area. She also added that they are excited to work with Uber Eats to help licensed retailers bring safe, lawful cannabis to people across the city.
The partnership is expected to boost the battle against the illegal black market, which continues to account for more than 40% of all non-medical cannabis sales in Ontario. Furthermore, a recent study by Public First reveals that some cannabis consumers drive after using the drug, with 1 in 7 of them confessing to doing so within two hours of consuming cannabis.
Delivery alternatives like those provided by Uber Eats are anticipated to reduce impaired driving and increase road safety.
